Our team consists of two dedicated wealth management professionals who have worked together as partners for almost 20 years, David Ritcey and Kate Whynot.

David J. Ritcey

After completing Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Business Administration degrees from Acadia University, Dave has been with Scotia Wealth Management for the past 26 years.

As a licensed Portfolio Manager, Dave has the discretion to make investment decisions on a client’s behalf should a client desire to fully delegate day-to-day portfolio management. He is one of very few Scotia Wealth Management advisors across Canada to have this capability.

He is also a Certified Financial Planner licensed by the Financial Planners Standards Council and he holds senior professional designations (CIM, FCSI) from the Canadian Securities Institute and the internationally recognized Investment Management Consultants Association (CIMA) and Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (TEP).

Kate Whynot

After graduating from Acadia University with a Diploma in Business Administration, Kate began her career at Scotia Wealth Management in May of 1998.

She joined The Ritcey Team in July of 1998 and brings with her a broad knowledge of investments and superior skills in servicing clients. Kate handles all administrative issues and assists in the maintenance, and review of client portfolios.

At Scotia Wealth Management, Kate has continued to expand on her university business background. She has completed the Canadian Securities Institute’s Professional Financial Planning Course. Her expanded knowledge and expertise in investment management, tax and estate planning, insurance, law, and fair and ethical business practices is evidence of her commitment to meeting the needs of clients.

Colin joined Scotia Wealth Management in January 2000. He provides The Ritcey Team with fully integrated insurance strategies that can assist clients in meeting their specific goals for building, preserving and protecting their wealth.

Colin has been in the estate planning and financial services industry for several years and brought with him comprehensive life, pension and distributor support experience. Prior to coming to Scotia Wealth Management, Colin was an independent insurance professional and has also been a specialist in the area of pension benefits for one of Canada’s leading insurance companies.

Colin has a Bachelor of Commerce degree, is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and has also completed his Canadian Securities Course.

Jamie is engaged in the development of your highly customized and comprehensive financial plan- the true foundation of your experience and the measure of future success. As part of this planning process, Jamie explores

relevant financial, retirement, tax, will and estate strategies. He has extensive experience providing financial planning advice to clients with complex and sophisticated needs and goals.

Christy Sandles

Christy is responsible for providing advice and guidance to Estate and Trust clients for their Will and Estate planning strategies. Prior to joining Scotiabank in 2013, she practiced law for several years at a mid-sized firm in Halifax, specializing in the areas of wills and estates law, litigation and banking law.

A graduate of the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Anthropology at the University of Waterloo, Christy is also a graduate of the Bachelor of Laws degree at Dalhousie University. Called to the Bar in 2010, she is a member of the Nova Scotia Barrister’s Society and the Canadian Bar Association.

Christy is a member of the Halifax Estate Planning Council and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (Canada).
